2-Bay 2.5" SAS/SATA Backplane with Slim ODD Tray

This adapter mounts in a 5.25" bay and holds two 2.5" SATA or SAS drives plus one slim optical drive. It suits builders who need hot-swap storage and legacy optical access in a single front-panel slot. The full-metal cage and locking trays secure every device.

Check bay depth and controller compatibility

Verify that your chassis provides enough depth behind the 5.25" opening for the full cage and cabling. Your motherboard or RAID card must expose SATA 6Gbps or SAS 12Gbps dual-channel ports to use the backplane's full bandwidth. Two 4-pin power connectors are required to run both drives and the optical tray.

Locking trays and EZ-ODD tray simplify swaps

The EZ Slide Mini trays lock each 2.5" drive in place and allow tool-free removal during maintenance. The dedicated EZ-ODD tray secures the slim optical drive so it ejects cleanly without flexing the cage. Both trays share the same metal frame, keeping vibration low and airflow consistent across all three devices.

Questions about this item

Does the cage ship with the drive trays and optical-drive tray, or must they be ordered separately?

The unit includes two EZ Slide Mini trays for 2.5" drives and one EZ-ODD tray for a slim optical drive, so nothing extra is needed for the bays.

Should I pick the 12 Gbps SAS path or the 6 Gbps SATA path for my SSDs?

Both interfaces are supported simultaneously; use the SAS 12 Gbps dual-channel link for SAS drives and the SATA 6 Gbps link for SATA drives.

What does the 12 Gbps SAS rating mean once the cage is installed in a 5.25" bay?

It provides a dual-channel 12 Gbps SAS connection to the host controller, delivering full SAS throughput for each installed 2.5" drive.
