SKU CH-QH7Z-EM0XF

Holds six U.2/U.3 NVMe SSDs up to 9.5 mm in a 5.25" bay using three SFF-8654 connectors at PCIe 4.0 64Gb/s per bay

  • Six U.2/U.3 NVMe drives in one 5.25" bay
  • PCIe 4.0 delivers up to 64Gb/s per drive bay
  • Three slimSAS 8i (SFF-8654) connectors link all six bays
  • Accepts drives up to 9.5mm tall for broad compatibility
  • Works with tri-mode controllers from Broadcom, Areca and more

Six-bay U.2/U.3 NVMe enclosure

The LORDWORLD ToughArmor MB118VP-B fits six U.2 or U.3 PCIe NVMe SSDs up to 9.5 mm thick into a single 5.25-inch optical bay. It connects through three SFF-8654 SlimSAS 8i ports and is aimed at workstation and server builders who need dense, high-speed local storage.

Sustained PCIe 4.0 throughput

Each bay runs at the PCIe 4.0 specification with up to 64 Gb/s bandwidth per drive. The aluminium chassis and direct SlimSAS wiring keep latency low and maintain full speed during long sequential reads or heavy random write workloads without thermal throttling.

Replaces multiple discrete drive cages

This unit consolidates six separate U.2/U.3 slots into one front-accessible bay, removing cable clutter and freeing internal 3.5-inch bays. The jump is worthwhile when a tri-mode controller with SFF-8654 ports is already present and the chassis has an available 5.25-inch opening.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the MB118VP-B produce when six U.2 NVMe SSDs run continuously?

The enclosure has no integrated fan, so heat and noise depend entirely on the SSDs installed and the chassis airflow you provide.

Which controller card and cables are required to connect the three slimSAS 8i ports on this adapter?

You need a tri-mode PCIe controller (Broadcom, Areca or compatible) and three SFF-8654 slimSAS 8i cables, one per port.

Can I keep my existing PCIe 3.0 tri-mode controller and still use all six bays of this 5.25-inch enclosure?

Yes, the backplane is backward compatible; each bay will simply operate at PCIe 3.0 speeds instead of the 4.0 limit.
