XLR to Lightning Microphone Cable

This 19.7-foot cable connects professional dynamic and self-powered condenser XLR microphones to the Lightning port of iOS devices. It integrates a high-quality analog-to-digital converter and uses an Apple MFi Certified Lightning connector for direct digital audio input. The plug-and-play design requires no drivers or external power, making it suitable for video, recording and teleconferencing apps.

Installation and Common Issues

Installation is straightforward: connect the XLR female end to the microphone and plug the Lightning connector into the iPhone or iPad. The device is recognised immediately by compatible iOS apps without configuration. Issues typically arise if a phantom-powered condenser microphone is used, as the cable only supports dynamic or battery-powered condenser models. A loose XLR connection or debris in the Lightning port can also interrupt the signal.

Suitable Users and Limitations

This cable suits content creators, journalists and musicians who need a long, direct digital link from a professional XLR microphone to an iOS device for mobile recording or streaming. It is not intended for users who require phantom power for studio condenser microphones, need a USB-C connection for newer iPad models, or want a shorter cable for desktop use. Buyers needing multi-channel audio interfaces should look at dedicated interface hardware.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the cable is passing audio correctly after plugging it into my iPhone?

Open a recording or teleconferencing app, speak into the connected XLR microphone, and watch the input level meter move in real time to verify the signal is reaching the Lightning port.

What comes with the cable and what must I supply myself?

The box contains the 19.7-foot XLR-female-to-Lightning cable with its built-in analog-to-digital converter and MFi-certified connector; you provide the dynamic or self-powered condenser microphone and the iOS device with a Lightning port.

Which version of this cable should I choose for a dynamic microphone?

This single model works with both dynamic and battery-powered condenser microphones, so no separate version is needed — just connect your XLR mic and start recording.
