8-bay NVMe mobile rack for dual 5.25 bays

The ToughArmor MB508V5P-B fits eight 15 mm U.2/U.3 NVMe SSDs into two standard 5.25 inch drive bays. Four MCIO 8i connectors provide PCIe Gen5 x4 bandwidth to each drive. A full-metal chassis and an 80 mm fan with directed airflow keep Gen5 thermals stable under sustained load.

Suits Tri-Mode HBA or RAID cards.

The cage operates in NVMe mode only and requires a controller that can present PCIe lanes over MCIO 8i cables. Power is supplied through one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCIe connector for reliable delivery to all eight drives. Builders without MCIO-capable host adapters cannot use this enclosure.

MCIO 8i (SFF-TA-1016) interface decides

Each of the four MCIO 8i ports carries four PCIe Gen5 lanes to a pair of drive trays, so the host card must expose the same pin-out and lane count. Eagle-Hook tray locks prevent accidental ejection during transport or vibration. The design also accepts 7 mm to 15 mm drive heights, covering current and upcoming form factors.
