Six-Bay 5.25-Inch Adapter

The LORDWORLD ToughArmor MB996SP-6SB fits six 2.5-inch SATA or SAS drives from 5 mm to 9.5 mm thick into one external 5.25-inch bay. Each bay accepts a removable EZ-Slide Mini tray for quick swaps. The all-metal enclosure is built for medical, military, media-server and industrial-PC deployments.

RAID Builders and Industrial Users

This unit suits administrators who need up to six hot-swappable drives in a single bay with SATA 6 Gbps or SAS 12 Gbps single-channel throughput. Builders who need more than six drive slots, a different bay size, or a non-metal chassis should consider other form factors.

SATA 6 Gbps or SAS 12 Gbps Single-Channel Support

The backplane delivers either SATA 6 Gbps or SAS 12 Gbps on a single channel, so the host controller and cabling must match that interface and speed. A three-mode fan control (High, Low, Off) and a 4-pin to 15-pin power adapter are included for flexible power and cooling.

Questions about this item

How do I install the ToughArmor MB996SP-6SB into a 5.25 bay and what step is often missed?

Slide the unit into the external 5.25 bay, secure it with screws, connect each drive to the backplane, then attach either the 4-pin or 15-pin power lead using the supplied adapter; the step often missed is selecting the correct power connector before closing the case.

What maintenance or replacement will the ToughArmor MB996SP-6SB need over time?

The 3-mode fan may require cleaning or replacement after extended use; the removable EZ-Slide Mini trays let you swap any 2.5 SATA HDD or SSD without tools, and the full metal chassis itself needs no scheduled service.

What limit appears first when the ToughArmor MB996SP-6SB runs under sustained load?

The single-channel design caps total throughput at SATA 6Gbps or SAS 12Gbps, so aggregate bandwidth across all six drives becomes the bottleneck before thermal limits with the fan on High.
