Extension cable for DisplayPort 1.4 setups

This male-to-female DisplayPort 1.4 extension cable adds 6.6 ft of reach between a GPU and a monitor. It supports resolutions up to 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz with HBR3 bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps. The cord is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0 devices. Five cable ties are included for routing.

Signal quality over the full 6.6 ft length

Triple-layer shielding and 26–30 AWG solid copper conductors protect the 32.4 Gbps data stream from interference. The cable carries HDR, DSC 1.2 compression, FEC forward error correction and multi-stream transport without degradation. Gold-plated connectors and a nylon braided jacket are rated for more than 10 000 insertion cycles. FreeSync and G-Sync variable-refresh signalling passes through unchanged.

Checks before ordering

Verify that both the source and the display have full-size DisplayPort 1.4 ports, not Mini DisplayPort or HDMI. Confirm the existing cable you plan to extend is also DisplayPort 1.4 rated so the combined link can sustain 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz. Ensure the total combined cable length stays within the DisplayPort specification for your target resolution and refresh rate.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the 6.6 ft DisplayPort 1.4 extension add when running at 8K 60 Hz all day?

The cable is passive with solid copper conductors and triple shielding, so it generates no heat or noise of its own during continuous 32.4 Gbps operation.

What must my source and display already provide for this male-to-female extender to work?

Both devices need a standard DisplayPort 1.4 (or 1.3/1.2/1.1) port; the cable simply extends the existing link without requiring extra power or adapters.

Will the 32.4 Gbps HBR3 link stay stable with a DisplayPort 1.2 monitor and an older GPU?

Yes, the extender is backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0, so it will negotiate the highest rate both ends support.
