Product Identity

The LUOM HY-5001 is a compact HDMI audio extractor that takes one HDMI input and provides a loop-through HDMI output plus optical Toslink and RCA stereo analogue audio outputs. It is built for anyone who needs to separate sound from a video source and send it to an amplifier, soundbar or AV receiver while keeping the picture path intact.

Who It Suits

This unit suits owners of Blu-ray players, games consoles, streaming sticks or PCs who want to feed a legacy audio system that lacks HDMI inputs. It is not for buyers who need ARC or eARC support, and it will not help installations that require more than one HDMI input or multi-channel analogue outputs beyond two-channel RCA.

Deciding Specification

The extractor passes video up to 4K at 30 Hz and 1080p while offering three audio modes — PASS, 2.0CH and 5.1CH — and supports formats such as DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD and LPCM 7.1 over the optical and RCA connections.

Questions about this item

Will this extractor pass 1080P video to my older monitor while sending 5.1CH audio to a separate sound system?

Yes, the HDMI input carries up to 1920 x 1080 resolution and the extractor simultaneously outputs video via HDMI and audio through optical SPDIF or RCA L/R in 5.1CH mode.

How do I confirm the unit is extracting audio correctly after I connect it?

Select 5.1CH or 2.0CH mode on the switch; the extractor will output sound through the optical SPDIF or RCA L/R ports while video continues to the HDMI display.

Does the box include the power supply and cables, or do I need to buy a 5V adapter separately?

The package contains the extractor, a 5V power adapter and a user manual; HDMI and optical or RCA cables are not included.
