What this extractor does

The LUOM HY-5001 takes a single HDMI source and splits the signal so video continues to a display while audio is sent simultaneously to optical Toslink and RCA stereo outputs. It is intended for installers or home users who need to feed a soundbar, AV receiver or powered speakers from devices that only provide HDMI.

Sustained signal handling

The unit maintains HDMI 1.4b and HDCP 1.4 compliance while passing 1080p or 4K at 30 Hz with 36-bit deep colour, so extended playback sessions do not introduce dropouts or handshake failures. Three selectable audio modes — PASS, 2.0CH and 5.1CH — let the installer match the output format to the connected audio system without reconfiguring the source.

Thermals noise and power

A compact black enclosure powered by an included 5 V adapter runs silently with no moving parts, adding negligible heat to an equipment rack. The short 5-inch pigtail keeps cable clutter low, and the extractor draws only the current required for signal conversion, leaving the source device’s HDMI port unburdened.

Questions about this item

Does the extractor generate noticeable heat or noise when left on continuously?

The unit has no fan and draws only 5 V / 1 A, so it runs silently and stays cool during all-day operation.

What cables or devices must I already have to use the HY-5001?

You need an HDMI source, an HDMI display cable, and either a Toslink optical cable or RCA stereo cables for the audio output.

Will the HY-5001 pass 4K@30 Hz and 36-bit colour to my older 1080p monitor?

Yes, it supports 4K@30 Hz, HDMI 1.4b and 36-bit deep colour on the HDMI output, while downscaling to 1920 x 1080 for 1080p displays.
