The LUOM adapter lets you attach a 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD to a laptop or desktop through a USB 3.0 port. It is built for quick data recovery, backup, disk imaging or adding temporary storage without opening the computer case. A 22 pin cable and a 12V 2A power supply are included so both drive sizes receive adequate power. Plug and play operation means no driver installation is required on supported systems.

Check USB port and UASP support before ordering

Verify that your computer has a USB 3.0 port to reach the 5Gbps link speed. UASP acceleration works on Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or later, and Linux; older operating systems will fall back to standard USB 3.0 performance. The 12V 2A power adapter must be connected whenever a 3.5 inch drive is used, so ensure a mains socket is available. No internal drive bay or enclosure is needed for the adapter itself.

Thermals noise and power draw in normal use

The adapter draws power from the USB port for 2.5 inch drives and from the supplied 12V 2A unit for 3.5 inch drives, keeping consumption low. No fan is present so operation is silent during transfers. The plastic housing stays cool to the touch under typical workloads because the circuitry only bridges the SATA and USB interfaces.
