Connect 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD via USB 3.0 with UASP for up to 70 percent faster transfers, includes 12V 2A power adapter
This adapter connects a 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD to a USB port on a laptop. It adds storage, enables backups, creates disk images, supports data recovery and transfers content. The plug-and-play design requires no drivers and lets you swap drives without an enclosure. It is a portable solution that fits in a laptop bag.
The adapter delivers USB 3.0 data rates of 5Gbps and supports UASP for improved performance. With a UASP-capable host you can see up to 70 percent faster read speeds and 40 percent faster write speeds over standard USB 3.0. UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or above and Linux. This is the specification that determines whether the adapter meets your speed needs.
A 12V 2A power supply is provided and connects via a DC-Jack port. The external power is required for 3.5 inch SATA HDDs and optional for 2.5 inch drives. With the supply connected both drive sizes receive sufficient power for stable operation. The adapter draws no power from the laptop when the external supply is used.

The adapter delivers up to 5Gbps over USB 3.0, and with UASP support on Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or later, and Linux you can see up to 70% faster reads and 40% faster writes than standard USB 3.0, letting a SATA III SSD or HDD run nearer its full speed.
UASP reduces command overhead so the 5Gbps link is used more efficiently; in testing it yielded 70% higher peak read and 40% higher peak write throughput over conventional USB 3.0, provided the host OS also supports UASP.
The cable has a 22-pin SATA connector for the drive and a USB 3.0 plug for the host; a 12V 2A power adapter is included and must be connected when using a 3.5" SATA HDD, while 2.5" drives can often run from bus power alone.
