It is built for users who run multiple PCs at one desk and want to cut cable clutter without losing 4K@60Hz image quality. The switch handles both duplicated and extended desktop modes, provided each computer has two HDMI outputs.

The spec that decides fit

Each connected computer must supply two HDMI ports to use the dual-monitor function. The switch accepts four HDMI+HDMI+USB bundles from the PCs and routes them to two HDMI monitor ports and four USB 3.0 hub ports. If a system only has one video output, the second monitor cannot be driven.

Installing and common issues

The unit is plug-and-play with Windows, Vista, XP, Mac OS, Linux and Unix — no driver install required. Switching is done via front-panel buttons, the included desktop controller or the IR remote. A 12V/1A external power adapter is mandatory; the switch will not operate on bus power alone. Remote batteries are not supplied.
