USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable for 8K output

This 3.3 ft cable connects a USB-C source with DP Alt Mode to a DisplayPort 1.4 monitor. It carries up to 32.4 Gbps bandwidth for 8K at 60 Hz with 10-bit HDR or 4K at 144 Hz. The unidirectional design only converts from USB-C to DisplayPort. Builders needing a DisplayPort-to-USB-C link or a charging cable cannot use this product.

Replaces basic USB-C video adapters limited to 4K

The jump is worth it when the display runs 8K 60 Hz, 4K 144 Hz, 2K 240 Hz or any refresh rate above 60 Hz at 4K. VESA DSC 1.2 compression and FEC maintain image quality at high bandwidth. Systems without DP Alt Mode on the USB-C port will not transmit video regardless of cable specification.

Practical limits of DisplayPort 1.4 over USB-C

Maximum resolution is 7680x4320 at 60 Hz or 3840x2160 at 240 Hz with host and monitor support. Multi-Stream Transport allows daisy-chaining compatible displays. The cable carries audio including eARC and Dolby formats but delivers no power. Signal integrity relies on the host implementing DP Alt Mode and the display accepting the target timing.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the 3.3 ft cable need behind a monitor for the DisplayPort 1.4 plug?

The cable is 3.3 ft long with a male-to-male design; the DisplayPort 1.4 connector requires enough depth for a standard DP plug plus the cable bend radius.

Which end plugs in first to avoid a no-signal error with the unidirectional CYPD chip?

Connect the USB-C end to the Thunderbolt 4/3 or DP Alt Mode source, then the DisplayPort 1.4 end to the monitor; reversing them will not work.

When should the 28 AWG tinned copper conductors be inspected or the cable replaced?

Inspect if 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz flickers appear; the triple-shielded PVC jacket and gold-plated contacts are rated for long-term use without scheduled replacement.
