It serves laptops, desktops and monitors equipped with these ports for video and audio transmission. The male-to-male connectors are gold-plated for corrosion resistance.

The cable delivers 32.4 Gbps bandwidth (HBR3) supporting 8K at 60 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz with 10-bit colour, RGB 4:4:4, HDR10, Dolby Vision and DSC 1.2. It handles high-refresh gaming at 2K up to 165 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, but 8K is limited to 60 Hz.

DisplayPort 1.4 interface limits

DisplayPort 1.4 caps usable bandwidth at 32.4 Gbps, so resolutions above 8K or refresh rates beyond those listed require DisplayPort 2.0 or compression not supported by this cable. HDCP 2.2 protects premium content, while 32 audio channels and Dolby Atmos pass through. The bi-directional design works only with native Mini DisplayPort and DisplayPort sockets, not USB-C Alternate Mode unless the host explicitly provides a Mini DisplayPort signal.
