50 ft DisplayPort 1.4 fiber cable

This 50 ft fiber optic cable carries DisplayPort 1.4 signals between a PC or laptop and a monitor, projector or HDTV. The hybrid glass-fiber and copper construction supports up to 32.4 Gbps bandwidth for 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz. It is built for long in-wall runs where copper cables would lose signal.

Directional connectors and hybrid build

One end is marked for the source device and the other for the display, so the cable must be installed the right way round. Gold-plated plugs and a zinc-alloy shell resist corrosion and physical stress, while the TPE jacket and anti-bend design protect the four optical fibers during routing. No external power adapter is required.

DSC 1.2 compression and DP 1.4 link limits

The link relies on Display Stream Compression 1.2 to reach 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 240 Hz within the 32.4 Gbps ceiling. Both the graphics card and the monitor must support DP 1.4 and DSC for those modes; otherwise the cable falls back to lower resolutions such as 4K at 60 Hz. It does not carry Ethernet or USB data.

Questions about this item

Will the 24K gold-plated connectors or the hybrid fiber-copper cable need replacement after long-term in-wall installation?

The 24K gold-plated connectors resist rust and the wear-resisting TPE jacket protects the hybrid glass-fiber and oxygen-free copper structure, so no routine replacement is expected for the cable itself.

What is the first resolution or refresh-rate ceiling I will hit when running this 50 ft cable at maximum bandwidth all day?

The cable supports up to 32.4 Gbps, enabling 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz; the limit encountered first will be the 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz ceiling defined by the DisplayPort 1.4 standard.

Does the active optical design generate noticeable heat or fan noise during continuous 8K 60 Hz operation?

The cable uses a smart chip inside a high-strength aluminium alloy shell that dissipates heat passively; it has no fan and produces no audible noise during all-day use.
