Connectivity & Compatibility

The LUOM TJ-TDP16K is a 10 ft bi-directional cable with a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 male connector on one end and a full-size DisplayPort 2.1 male connector on the other. It supports DisplayPort 2.1 bandwidth up to 80 Gbps and is backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.4, 1.2 and 1.2.144 specifications. The cable works with Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports on compatible laptops such as MacBook models, enabling video and audio transfer between Mini DP sources and DP displays or vice versa.

Setup Verification

Before ordering, confirm that your source device has a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 or Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 output that carries a DisplayPort Alternate Mode signal. Verify the external monitor or projector accepts a standard DisplayPort 2.1 input. The cable is male-to-male on both ends, so no adapters are required, but both ports must be female. Ensure the 10 ft length suits the distance between your laptop or desktop and the display without excess strain on the connectors.

Signal Quality & Build

Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion and maintain stable contact for high-speed transmission up to 80 Gbps. The copper conductors and matt PVC with cotton-braided jacket protect signal integrity across supported modes such as 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz and 4K at 240 Hz. HDR10, Dolby Vision, HDCP 2.2 and 10-bit deep colour pass through without compression. As a passive cable, it draws no external power and adds no audible noise or heat to the system during normal operation.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy anything else to connect my laptop to a monitor?

The box contains the 10 ft Mini DisplayPort 2.1 to DisplayPort 2.1 cable with gold-plated male connectors on both ends. No separate adapters or converters are required for a direct Mini DP to DP connection.

Which resolution and refresh rate combination should I choose for a 4K gaming monitor?

The cable supports 4K at 240 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz, and 4K at 144 Hz; select the highest refresh rate your monitor and graphics card both support for the smoothest gameplay.

What does the 80 Gbps bandwidth actually deliver when I plug this into a real laptop and display?

The 80 Gbps bandwidth enables the headline modes of 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz, and 4K at 240 Hz, provided the source and sink both implement DisplayPort 2.1 and DSC compression where required.
