Connects 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA drives to USB 3.0 with UASP support for up to 70 percent faster reads and 40 percent faster writes, includes 12V 2A power adapter
This adapter cable lets you attach a 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD to a laptop or desktop through a USB 3.0 port. It is aimed at users who need quick access to bare drives for backups, disk imaging, data recovery or moving large files between systems. The 22 pin connector mates directly with the drive’s native interface.
A 12V 2A power supply plugs into the cable’s DC jack and is mandatory when a 3.5 inch hard disk is connected, while 2.5 inch drives can often run from the USB port alone. The plug-and-play design requires no drivers and lets you swap drives without an enclosure, making it a compact addition to a laptop bag for field work.
The cable supports USB 3.0 at 5Gbps and the UASP protocol, which can raise read speeds by up to 70 percent and write speeds by up to 40 percent over standard USB 3.0 when the host operating system also supports UASP. Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or above and Linux provide that support, so typical file-copy sessions run cooler and finish faster.

The cable uses USB 3.0 with a 5Gbps data rate. When the host also supports UASP, read speeds can be up to 70% faster and write speeds up to 40% faster than standard USB 3.0.
A 3.5 inch SATA HDD requires the included 12V 2A power adapter plugged into the DC-Jack port; 2.5 inch drives can run from USB power alone.
Connect the 22 pin SATA connector to the drive, attach the USB 3.0 plug to the computer, and for 3.5 inch drives plug in the 12V 2A power adapter before powering on; the missing step is forgetting the external power for 3.5 inch drives.
