What this cable delivers

The LUOM USB4 cable carries 40 Gbps data, 240 W power and 8K video at 60 Hz over a single USB C to USB C link. It targets users who need maximum throughput for external SSDs, high-resolution monitors or fast laptop charging.

Sustained-load behaviour

The cable maintains the full 40 Gbps rate and 48 V at 5 A during long transfers or continuous 8K output, with a built-in safety resistor keeping current stable at 5 A. Lab testing confirms 5000 bend cycles without signal degradation.

Installation reality

Plug the reversible male connectors into any USB C port; the cable works bi-directionally with Thunderbolt 3 and 4 hosts. Performance drops to the host's lowest supported standard, so 40 Gbps and 240 W require both ends to implement USB4 Gen 3×2 and PD 3.1.

Questions about this item

Does the 240W cable get warm during all-day 48V 5A charging sessions?

The cable includes a built-in safety resistor that keeps current stable at 5A, preventing excess heat during continuous high-power delivery.

What charger and device must I already own to reach 240W?

You need a PD 3.1 charger capable of 48V 5A and a device that accepts 240W over USB-C; the cable simply passes that power through.

Will this cable run 8K 60Hz on my older Thunderbolt 3 dock?

Yes, the cable is Thunderbolt 3 and 4 compatible and supports 8K 60Hz video when both the host and display support that resolution.
