Signal conversion for legacy outputs

This LUOM adapter converts an analogue VGA source and a 3.5 mm audio feed into a single HDMI signal at up to 1920x1080 60 Hz. It draws power from a USB port so it works with laptops and desktops that cannot supply enough current through the VGA connector alone. A selector switch on the enclosure lets you choose between 720p and 1080p output modes. The unit weighs 40 g and requires no driver installation.

Build integration and cabling

Connect the VGA plug and the 3.5 mm jack to the source device, then run the USB lead to any powered USB socket for stable operation. The HDMI output feeds a monitor, projector or HDTV, freeing you from hunting for a display that still accepts analogue input. Supported input resolutions include 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x720, 1600x1200 and 1920x1080 at 60 Hz. No external power brick is needed.

Included cables and practical limits

A USB power cable and a 3.5 mm audio cable are bundled so the converter works immediately out of the box. The device handles uncompressed two-channel LPCM audio and 12-bit per channel deep colour across a 6.75 G bps total bandwidth. It does not upscale lower resolutions beyond the listed modes and cannot pass multi-channel surround formats. Buyers who need bidirectional conversion or HDCP-managed content paths should look elsewhere.
