Product purpose

The MagTek Excella STX is a new check scanner with dual-sided imaging and an integrated 3-track MagnePrint MSR for magstripe authentication. It targets teller counters and back-office stations that need single-feed throughput and front-and-back printing in one pass.

Build integration

The unit connects through USB 2.0, which remains compatible with USB 1.1 hosts, and Ethernet 100Base-T for networked deployments. A 24 VDC, 2.5 Amp supply powers the device, while the compact 6.30" square footprint leaves counter space free for adjacent peripherals.

Capacity and limits

Dual-sided check scanning runs at 200 dpi with scaling to 100 dpi, producing black-and-white or grayscale images using CCITT G4 or JPEG compression. The single-feed path accepts documents up to 4.00" by 8.50" at speeds from 4 to 60 IPS, and the front-and-back printer uses an HP C6602A cartridge for endorsing. Color imaging and a front printer are not included in this configuration.
