Converts SATA M.2 SSDs (2230-2280) to standard SATA III for desktop or laptop storage expansion
This adapter converts a SATA-bus M.2 slot into a standard SATA III interface running at up to 6Gbps. It accepts B-key and B+M key M.2 SATA SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors. The compact add-on board works in desktops or laptops and requires no drivers for Windows, Mac or Linux systems.
The card plugs into a motherboard SATA port, letting you reuse an existing M.2 SATA drive as extra storage without occupying an M.2 slot. It needs a free SATA data connector and power from the PSU, freeing the M.2 socket for a potential NVMe boot drive. No additional cables or brackets are included in the specifications.
This suits users who have spare B-key or B+M key SATA M.2 SSDs and want to add them to a system with available SATA ports. It will not work with NVMe protocol M.2 drives, so builders needing to adapt PCIe-based M.2 storage should look elsewhere. Buyers without a free SATA header also cannot use this adapter.

The adapter provides a SATA III connection capped at 6 Gbps, so the drive will hit the standard SATA ceiling before any other bottleneck appears.
The adapter is a passive PCB with no onboard controller or power circuitry, so it runs at ambient temperature and adds no audible noise.
Only B-key or B+M-key M.2 SATA SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 lengths work; NVMe protocol drives are not supported.
