Extracts audio from an HDMI signal to optical and 3.5 mm outputs while passing 8K 60 Hz or 4K 120 Hz video
The Mediasonic avedio links HDMI ARC Audio Extractor separates audio from an HDMI source and sends it to both optical SPDIF and 3.5 mm stereo outputs while passing video through to a display. It suits anyone connecting a console, streaming stick or PC to a soundbar or amplifier that lacks HDMI inputs.
The unit handles video up to 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz with HDCP 2.3 compliance and colour depths of 24, 30, 36 and 48 bit. Supported resolutions include 480i, 480p, 576i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p so existing 1080p sources remain compatible.
A USB 2.0 port supplies power for the extractor and the ARC return path from a compatible TV. Three audio modes — Pass, 2CH and 5.1CH — let you match the output to a stereo headphone, soundbar or multichannel receiver without needing a separate HDMI audio board.

It means the extractor passes those video resolutions and refresh rates through to your display without downscaling, so a compatible source and screen can run at their native 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz while audio is pulled off separately.
The device supports up to HDMI 2.1 and HDCP 2.3, so the 48 Gbps ceiling of HDMI 2.1 is the practical limit for uncompressed 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz signals.
It requires a free USB 2.0 port or charger for power, one HDMI input from your source, one HDMI output to the display, and either an optical TOSLINK cable or a 3.5 mm stereo cable for the extracted audio.
