USB 2.0 capture card converts VHS, VCR or DV tapes to digital files at 720×480 or 720×576 resolution
The Mediasonic CGGXC77 captures analogue video and stereo audio from VHS, VCR, DV camcorders or DVD players through RCA composite and S-Video inputs. It digitises footage at 720×480 resolution and 30 fps for NTSC or 720×576 at 25 fps for PAL and SECAM standards. The USB 2.0 interface supplies all power so no external adapter is required.
The dongle draws its entire operating current from the host USB port, keeping power consumption minimal and eliminating a separate power brick. With no fan or moving parts the device runs silently and stays cool during extended capture sessions. Its compact 88×28×18 mm black enclosure adds negligible heat inside a laptop or desktop chassis.
Included Ulead Video Studio SE DVD provides a ready-to-use editing suite for trimming, enhancing and authoring captured clips to DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, DVD+/-VR or DVD-Video discs. The software also lets you adjust brightness, contrast, hue and saturation before recording. No additional sound card is needed because audio is captured directly over the USB connection.

Plug the 12cm cable into a USB 2.0 port for bus power, then connect your source to the RCA composite or S-Video input and stereo audio RCA jacks. The step often missed is installing the included Ulead Video Studio SE DVD software before capturing.
The 12cm USB cable and RCA or S-Video connectors are the only parts subject to physical wear. The capture hardware itself has no moving parts or user-serviceable components that require scheduled replacement.
The hardware caps at 720x480 at 30fps for NTSC or 720x576 at 25fps for PAL. Sustained captures are also limited by the USB 2.0 bandwidth and the 4GB minimum free disk space requirement.
