Digitises VHS, VCR, Hi8, DVD and other analogue sources to a Windows PC via USB 2.0
The Mediasonic VC149B connects analog video sources such as VCRs, camcorders, or DVD players to a Windows PC via USB 2.0. It digitises composite or S-Video signals in NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and PAL/60 formats for archiving or editing. The package includes the adapter, a USB extension cable, driver CD, and manual. It is intended for users converting legacy tapes to digital files.
The device draws power directly from the USB 2.0 port and has no fan or heatsink, so it runs silently and adds negligible heat inside a computer case. Normal operation produces no audible noise and requires no external power supply. Power consumption stays within standard USB 2.0 limits during capture sessions.
This adapter handles NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and PAL/60 video standards, which determines whether your specific tapes or regional equipment can be captured correctly. If your source uses a different standard, the VC149B will not digitise it properly. Check the label on your VCR or camcorder before purchase.

Connect the adapter to a USB 2.0 port, plug the RCA or S-Video cables into your source, then install the driver from the CD-ROM or download OBS Studio before starting capture.
The USB extension cable and the RCA or S-Video cables can wear out; the adapter itself has no user-serviceable components.
The USB 2.0 bandwidth caps sustained throughput, so very long recordings may drop frames if the PC cannot keep up.
