Active fibre cable delivers 100 Gb/s Ethernet or InfiniBand over one metre with LSZH jacket
The Mellanox MFA1A00E001 is an active fiber cable built for 100 Gb/s InfiniBand EDR and Ethernet links. It uses four full-duplex lanes running at up to 28 Gb/s each to deliver the rated aggregate throughput. The assembly suits data-centre interconnects between compatible adapters and switches.
Each cable meets the class-4 QSFP+ power consumption limit, keeping thermal load minimal inside dense racks. The low-smoke zero-halogen sheath reduces toxic emissions in a fire event. Mellanox tests every unit on its own equipment to verify signal integrity and interoperability before shipment.
This active optical assembly covers distances where passive copper DACs exceed their reliable length or grow too bulky. It upgrades links that need the 100 Gb/s aggregate rate without the power and bend-radius penalties of thicker copper. The jump is worth it when rack spacing or airflow rules out heavier cable bundles.

Align the QSFP module key with the port slot, insert until the latch clicks, then remove the protective caps from both LC connectors before seating them.
Inspect LC ferrules for dust before each reconnect; replace the cable if insertion loss rises or the latch no longer holds the module securely.
Each of the four lanes is rated to 28Gb/s per direction, so the 100Gb/s aggregate is the ceiling; sustained loads at that rate will hit the lane limit first.
