The 50 µm gold-plated contacts resist corrosion better than the 10 µm plating found on many budget cables. Pure bare copper meets UL 444 and TIA-568-C fire-safety requirements that copper-clad aluminium cannot satisfy.

UTP construction and fixed length limit
