Monoprice Cat5e STP Ethernet Cable 106985

This 0.9144 metre shielded Cat5e patch cable uses 24AWG stranded pure bare copper conductors and RJ45 connectors. It is suited for home or office networks that need basic gigabit connectivity with added shielding against interference.

Simple RJ45 plug-in installation

The stranded conductors make the cable flexible for routing around corners or through tight spaces. The STP shielding and foil wrapping require the metal shells of the RJ45 plugs to stay grounded; if the connected ports lack shielded jacks the shielding benefit is lost.

Check port shielding and length before ordering

Verify that your router, switch or wall jack uses shielded RJ45 ports so the cable's foil shield can function. Confirm that 0.9144 metres reaches between your devices without tension; longer runs need a different length.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the 350 MHz bandwidth is performing after I plug in the 0.9144 m cable?

Connect the cable between two gigabit devices and run a local speed test; sustained throughput near 1 Gbps shows the link is operating at its rated 350 MHz.

What comes with the Cat5e STP cable and what must I supply?

The package contains the single 0.9144 m shielded patch cord with RJ45 plugs; you provide the router, switch or network cards to connect.

Should I choose the 0.9144 m length or a longer run for my desk setup?

Pick 0.9144 m when devices are within three feet; select a longer Monoprice Cat5e STP cable if the distance exceeds that.
