OM3 fibre cable for dense rack environments

The Monoprice 143105 is a three-metre OM3 multimode patch cord built for high-density telecom rooms, server farms and cloud storage networks. Its aqua jacket identifies the OM3 grade at a glance. The uniboot LC/LC connector houses two fibres inside one jacket, cutting bulk by half and easing airflow in crowded panels. Installers can flip polarity without tools, speeding moves, adds and changes.

Uniboot LC/LC connector

The single specification that decides fit is the uniboot duplex connector, which merges transmit and receive fibres into one compact body. This halves the cable footprint compared with standard duplex jumpers and lets technicians reverse Tx/Rx polarity by hand, eliminating the need for special tooling during re-patching.

10 Gb to 300 m and 40/100 Gb to 100 m

The cable’s 2000 MHz·km effective modal bandwidth at 850 nm supports 10 Gb links up to 300 metres and 40 Gb or 100 Gb links up to 100 metres. Beyond those distances the modal dispersion of OM3 fibre becomes the limiting factor, so longer runs require single-mode or higher-grade multimode cable. The OFNR riser rating permits vertical shaft routing between floors.

Questions about this item

What real-world distance does the 10Gb figure cover when the cable is installed?

The cable supports 10Gb links up to 300 metres, so a 3-metre run is well within that limit.

How does the LC Uniboot interface affect density and polarity changes in a patch panel?

The Uniboot puts two fibres in one jacket, halving the space used, and lets you flip Tx/Rx polarity by hand without tools.

What physical space and mounting clearance does the 3-metre aqua cable need in a rack?

Its single-jacket Uniboot design cuts bulk by 50% versus standard duplex jumpers, improving airflow in tight cable trays and server racks.
