Monoprice 144086 Blackbird 8K Splitter/Switch

The Monoprice 144086 Blackbird is a dual-function HDMI 2.1 device that operates as either a 1x2 splitter or a 2x1 switch. It routes signals between two sources and two displays at up to 40Gbps bandwidth with HDCP 2.3 compliance.

Ideal for dual-display or dual-source setups

This unit suits enthusiasts and competitive gamers who need to share two HDMI sources across two screens or mirror one source to both simultaneously. It is not for buyers who require more than two inputs or more than two outputs, or who need automatic switching without manual EDID management via DIP switches.

Fits between sources and displays with EDID control

Connect up to two HDMI sources such as consoles or PCs and two HDMI displays; the built-in DIP switches let you manage EDID settings for compatibility. It frees you from swapping cables when changing between sources or display configurations.

Questions about this item

Do I need HDMI 2.1 cables rated for 40Gbps to reach 8K60 with this splitter/switch?

Yes. To achieve 8K@60Hz 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:0 you need cables certified for 40Gbps bandwidth on every link between source, the unit and each display.

Will my older 4K60 monitor work if I keep it on one output while the other runs 4K120?

Yes. The EDID DIP switches let you set a common format or let each display negotiate its own, so a 4K60 screen can stay active alongside a 4K120 panel.

How can I confirm the box is passing HDR10+ or Dolby Vision to both screens after setup?

Play HDR10+ or Dolby Vision test content and verify each TV's info menu reports the matching HDR format and 10-bit depth at the expected resolution.
