Power-splitter cable for dual graphics cards

This Monoprice Y-splitter turns one spare GPU 8-pin power connector into two PCI-E 8-pin (6+2) plugs. Each pack contains two black-and-yellow cables built with 18 AWG copper cores and locking latches on every connector. The 20 cm length keeps cable routing tidy inside compact mining or gaming rigs. Compatible with 6-pin and 8-pin graphics cards from ASUS, ASRock, Radeon, Sapphire, EVGA and Gigabyte.

Capacity limited by single 8-pin source

Both outputs share the same 8-pin feed, so total current draw cannot exceed what that one connector and the PSU rail can safely deliver. The 18 AWG wires are rated for 9.5 amps, giving enough headroom for mid-range cards but not for dual high-wattage GPUs running at full load. Builders needing independent power for each card should run separate cables from the power supply instead.

GPU 8-pin female input, not CPU 8-pin

The input connector is keyed for a graphics-card 8-pin socket and will not fit a CPU 8-pin header on the power supply. Using the wrong header can damage components, so verify the PSU cable labelling before connecting. This distinction is the single specification that decides whether the splitter works in a given build.

Questions about this item

Will this splitter work with the 8-pin GPU cable already coming from my power supply?

Yes, the 8-pin GPU female input connects directly to your existing PSU 8-pin plug, turning one line into two PCI-E 8-pin (6+2) male outputs.

How can I confirm each connection is secure after I plug the cables into my graphics card?

Every connector has a latch that clicks into place; you will feel and hear it lock, preventing accidental disconnection.

What exactly is included in the 2-pack and do I need any extra adapters for a 6-pin card?

The pack contains two 20 cm black-and-yellow Y-splitter cables; the 6+2 pin male ends fit both 6-pin and 8-pin graphics cards without extra adapters.
