What it is

This Monoprice power extension cord adds 19.99 ft of reach to any AC device. It carries a NEMA 5-15P plug and a NEMA 5-15R receptacle, built with 16AWG conductors rated for 13 A. The cable is black and identified by model number 124200.

Who it suits

Ideal for home or office users who need a grounded extension for computers, monitors, printers or similar equipment. Not for anyone who requires a higher amperage rating, a longer run, or a different connector type than the standard NEMA 5-15 arrangement.

Deciding specification

The 13 A current rating is the single figure that determines whether this cord can safely power your device. Check your equipment's nameplate; if it draws more than 13 A, this extension cord is not suitable.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 20 ft 16AWG cord or a shorter length for my setup?

The 19.99 ft length gives maximum reach; a shorter cord would reduce voltage drop slightly, but 16AWG at this length still supports the full 13 A rating.

What does the 13 A rating mean when I plug in my equipment?

It means the cord can safely carry up to 13 amps continuously, matching a standard 15 A household circuit breaker limit for typical appliances.

How do the NEMA 5-15P and 5-15R connectors affect what I can plug in?

The 5-15P plug fits any standard North American wall outlet, and the 5-15R receptacle accepts any grounded 3-prong device plug.
