Certified Thunderbolt 4 cable

The Monoprice 144117 is an Intel and USB-IF certified Thunderbolt 4 cable built for professionals who need guaranteed 40Gbps throughput and 240W Power Delivery. It connects laptops, docks and high-resolution displays without the ambiguity of uncertified alternatives.

Sustained 40Gbps throughput

Certification ensures the cable maintains its full 40Gbps data rate under continuous load rather than only in short bursts. This stability matters when driving an 8K display or dual 4K monitors while simultaneously transferring large project files and charging a power-hungry workstation.

Durable certified construction

Official Intel and USB-IF validation confirms the connectors and shielding meet strict signal-integrity and thermal limits for 240W charging. The two-connector design fits standard USB-C ports, providing a reliable physical link that resists signal degradation during daily connect and disconnect cycles.

Questions about this item

Does the Thunderbolt 4 cable get warm or draw noticeable power when running at 40Gbps all day?

The cable is passive and carries up to 240W Power Delivery, so it runs cool under normal 40Gbps workloads; any warmth comes from the connected devices, not the cable itself.

What ports must my laptop and monitor already have for this Thunderbolt 4 cable to work?

Both ends need USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4 or USB4; the cable will not enable Thunderbolt features on plain USB-C ports.

Will this Thunderbolt 4 cable work with my older Thunderbolt 3 dock and USB 3.2 drives?

Yes, the cable is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3, USB 3 and USB 2 devices, though speeds drop to each device's own limit.
