SIIG 201086 USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 Adapter

This SIIG 201086 adapter connects a USB-C or Thunderbolt host to a DisplayPort monitor. It requires the host port to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video output. The adapter suits users with compatible laptops, tablets or smartphones needing a single external display connection. It is not for buyers whose host lacks Alternate Mode or who need to drive multiple displays from a single non-MST port.

Thermals noise and power

The compact aluminum housing dissipates heat passively without a fan, so operation is silent. The adapter draws up to 1.5 amps from the host USB-C 3.1 port, requiring no external power supply. Its 3 ft copper cable adds minimal resistance, keeping voltage drop low during normal use. No active cooling or additional power hardware is involved.

Bundled accessories and software

The package includes only the adapter cable itself with gold-plated connectors and molded strain relief. There are no driver discs, configuration utilities or mounting hardware supplied. Functionality depends entirely on the host operating system and graphics drivers supporting DisplayPort 1.4 features such as MST daisy chaining and high-bitrate audio formats. No software installation changes the adapter capabilities.

Questions about this item

How do I install the SIIG 201086 adapter and what step is often missed?

Connect the USB-C male end to a host port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode and Thunderbolt 4 or USB4, then attach a DisplayPort cable to the female port; the step users miss is verifying the host port actually carries video signals.

What maintenance or replacement will the adapter need over time?

The gold-plated connectors and strain-relieved cable tail are built for repeated plugging; no scheduled maintenance is required, but replace the unit if the metal housing dents or the connector pins become bent.

What limit appears first when driving 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz continuously?

The 32.4 Gbps bandwidth ceiling of DisplayPort 1.4 is reached first; sustained 7680x4320@60Hz or 3840x2160@240Hz HDR streams leave no headroom for additional data lanes.
