Portable gaming laptop with 144 Hz display

The MSI Thin A15 combines a 15.6 inch FHD IPS-level panel running at 144 Hz with an AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS six-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics. It targets gamers and creators who want a thin, light machine for 1080p play and everyday productivity. The 16 GB memory and 512 GB PCIe SSD provide a responsive baseline for modern titles and multitasking.

Sustained load behaviour

Under extended gaming sessions the Ryzen 5 7535HS maintains clocks between 3.3 GHz and 4.55 GHz across its six cores while the RTX 3050 4 GB GDDR6 handles graphics workloads. The 144 Hz refresh rate keeps motion fluid during long matches and the 512 GB PCIe SSD delivers consistent read speeds for level streaming. Windows 11 Home manages background tasks without interrupting the foreground game.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

The 0.85 inch chassis uses a compact cooling layout that keeps surface temperatures comfortable during typical gaming and office work. Fan noise remains subdued at idle and rises to a moderate level under load, staying suitable for shared spaces. The 4.1 pound weight and Wi-Fi 6E plus Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity make it practical for daily carry without a bulky power brick.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the RTX 3050 4GB GDDR6 get when the Ryzen 5 7535HS runs at 4.55GHz all day?

The laptop uses an IPS-level 144Hz panel and a 15.6-inch chassis weighing 4.1 pounds, giving the cooling system room to move air across both the CPU and the RTX 3050 during extended sessions.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.0?

You need a USB-C monitor or dock that accepts DisplayPort Alt Mode and can supply or accept power over the same cable; the port also works with standard USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A devices through an adapter.

Will an older HDMI 1.4 monitor work with the HDMI 2.1 output on this laptop?

Yes, the HDMI 2.1 port is backward compatible and will drive a 1080p 60Hz display without any extra configuration.
