Purpose and audience

The NEC V311X is a 3100 ANSI lumen DLP business projector with a native 1024 x 768 resolution and 3000:1 contrast ratio. It includes a 7W built-in speaker, 3D-ready capability and HD Ready support for 1080i signals. The unit weighs 5.5 lbs and is designed for portable or fixed installations in meeting rooms and classrooms.

Pre-installation checks

Verify that your source device can output over HDMI Standard, VGA/SVGA D-Sub, composite RCA, S-Video or the RJ-45 LAN port. Confirm the throw distance suits a medium/standard throw lens in your intended room layout. Ensure the mounting surface supports ceiling, rear or table-top projection and that RS-232 DB-9 control is available if you plan Crestron RoomView integration.

Build integration

The projector accepts wired network management via RJ-45 and serial control through RS-232, freeing the HDMI and VGA ports for primary video sources. Its 7W speaker handles basic audio without external amplifiers, while 3D-ready support allows optional active-shutter content. Lamp life expectancy is estimated at a minimum of 65% of original output, reducing early maintenance cycles.

Questions about this item

Does the NEC V311X come with a lens cap and remote, or must they be purchased separately?

The projector ships with a lens cap, remote control, power cord, VGA cable, and quick-start guide; no additional accessories are required for basic operation.

Should I choose the XGA native 1024x768 model or a higher-resolution variant for detailed spreadsheets?

The V311X only offers 1024x768 native resolution; it accepts 1080i signals but scales them down, so text-heavy spreadsheets will look sharper on a true 1080p or WUXGA projector.

How bright will 3100 ANSI lumens actually appear in a lit conference room?

At 3100 ANSI lumens the image stays readable with lights on and blinds open, though colours pop best in semi-darkness; the 3000:1 contrast ratio helps black levels in mixed lighting.
