What this adapter does

The Nelumbo USB-C to USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 adapter converts a USB-C port into a standard USB-A socket. It supports 10Gbps data transfer and 5V/2A charging for flash drives, hubs, external drives and other peripherals. The aluminium shell resists scratches and helps dissipate heat during use. The plug-and-play design requires no extra drivers and is rated for up to 10000 insertion cycles.

Check your ports before buying

Verify that your host device has a USB-C port capable of USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt speeds to reach the rated 10Gbps throughput. Older USB-C ports limited to USB 3.0 will fall back to 5Gbps. The side-by-side form factor fits two adapters next to each other on closely spaced ports such as those on a MacBook Pro, but confirm the physical spacing on your specific machine. The package contains a single adapter despite the supplier title mentioning a five-pack.

Behaviour under sustained load

The aluminium housing provides passive cooling so the adapter maintains its 10Gbps link during long file transfers rather than throttling after a short burst. Rated durability of 10000 mating cycles means the connector stays reliable through daily connect and disconnect cycles. Power delivery stays steady at 5V/2A for charging attached devices while data moves continuously.

Questions about this item

Does the pack include cables or do I need to buy them separately?

The adapter itself is the only item supplied; you connect your existing USB-A cables or devices directly to the female port.

Which version should I choose for 10 Gbps transfers?

This model is the USB 3.2 Gen 2 variant rated at 10 Gbps, so it is the correct choice for that speed.

Will the 10 Gbps rating hold up when I plug it into a Thunderbolt 4 laptop?

Yes, the adapter is compatible with Thunderbolt 4 ports and will deliver up to 10 Gbps data throughput.
