Tri-band WiFi 7 router delivering 12 Gbps across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands with 2.5 Gig internet port and 3,000 sq. ft. coverage
Model RS500
Speed Up to 12 Gbps
The Netgear Nighthawk RS500 is a tri-band WiFi 7 router designed for households with heavy wireless demand. It delivers combined wireless speeds up to 12 Gbps across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and the new 6 GHz band. The platform suits users who stream 8K video, play competitive games or run AR/VR applications that need low latency and high throughput.
The 6 GHz radio uses 320 MHz channels and 4K QAM to reach 5.8 Gbps, while the 5 GHz radio also hits 5.8 Gbps on 160 MHz channels and the 2.4 GHz band adds 0.7 Gbps. A single 2.5 Gbps internet port and three 1 Gbps LAN ports handle multi-gig fibre or cable plans, though the 2.5 Gbps ceiling means plans above that speed cannot be fully utilised. The router supports up to 120 concurrent devices with 2 GB RAM and 512 MB flash for connection tables.
Six high-performance internal antennas with high-power amplifiers provide 360-degree coverage up to 3,000 square feet without external hardware. The unit requires a broadband modem with an RJ45 connector and ships with a 2 m Ethernet cable and 12 V/3.5 A power adapter. It adds WPA3 security, automatic firmware updates and VPN remote access, but lacks a 10 Gbps port for future-proofing ultra-fast fibre tiers.

Other versions of this model
Yes, the router provides one 2.5Gbps LAN port and three 1Gbps LAN ports so both devices can connect at their native link speeds simultaneously.
Open the Nighthawk app or web interface, check the wireless status page for the 6GHz radio, and verify connected clients show a 320MHz channel width with 4KQAM modulation.
The package contains the RS500 router, a 2m Ethernet cable, a 12V/3.5A power adapter and a quick start guide; a separate modem with an RJ45 port is required for fibre, DSL, cable or satellite service.
