Night Owl Optics 12-CH DVR 1TB 6 Wired 2K Surveillance Security System

System Purpose

This Night Owl Optics 12-channel DVR kit includes six wired 2K cameras and a pre-installed 1TB hard drive. It is designed for homes or small businesses that want continuous local recording with live mobile viewing. The system provides voice and vision surveillance plus preset audio alerts and a camera siren. Buyers who need more than six camera positions or wireless camera placement should consider a different solution.

Installation Reality

The package supplies a DVR, six 60 ft video and power cables, power adapters with a 4-way splitter, a 6 ft HDMI cable, an Ethernet cable, a USB mouse and mounting hardware. Running each cable from the DVR to a camera location is the main effort; the wired connection avoids wireless interference. A common issue is underestimating the cable route length through walls or ceilings. The DVR must stay near a power outlet and the router for the Ethernet link.

Pre-Purchase Checklist

Confirm you have a monitor or TV with an HDMI input for initial setup and ongoing local viewing. Ensure the router has a free Ethernet port for the DVR connection. Verify that the 60 ft cable length reaches every intended camera position from the DVR location. Check that you can supply mains power to the DVR and to the camera power adapters at the splitter points.
