This half-metre Cat8 patch cord is built for installers and network technicians who need a 40 Gbps-rated link between adjacent rack ports, a switch and a server, or a console and a router. Its green jacket makes the run easy to trace in dense panels. The cable is not suited for runs longer than the supplied length or for buyers who need a spool to cut custom lengths.

Shielded S/FTP construction

Each of the four pairs is wrapped in aluminium foil and the whole bundle sits under a steel braid, giving S/FTP shielding that meets the 2 GHz (2000 MHz) Category 8 requirement. Gold-plated RJ45 plugs with 50 µm contacts, a snagless boot and moulded strain relief survive repeated insertion in tight patch panels. The CM-rated PVC jacket is rated for indoor and outdoor use, so the same cord can cross a wall plate into a weather-exposed camera or access point.

Verify port spacing and device ports

Confirm that both ends accept standard RJ45 connectors and that the 0.5 ft reach spans the actual distance without tension. Ensure the linked hardware supports 25GBASE-T or 40GBASE-T signalling to use the full bandwidth; the cord is backward compatible with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7 equipment but will operate at the lower category’s speed. No PoE budget or specific switch model is implied by the cable itself.
