Half-metre Cat8 patch cable

This half-metre Cat8 patch cable uses shielded 24 AWG copper conductors and gold-plated RJ45 connectors to deliver 40 Gbps throughput at 2 GHz bandwidth. The red PVC jacket is rated for indoor and outdoor use and carries a UL listing. It suits data-centre switch-to-server links as well as home routers, consoles, NAS devices and PoE equipment.

Sustained 40 Gbps over shielded pairs

The S/FTP construction with individual foil shields and an overall steel braid suppresses alien crosstalk so the link holds 40 Gbps continuously rather than only in short bursts. Molded strain relief and a snagless push tab keep the connection stable when cables are routed through tight trays or around rack corners. Backward compatibility with Cat5e through Cat7 gear means existing ports negotiate down without errors.

Replaces shorter Cat6a runs in 25G and 40G upgrades

When a rack row moves from 10 GbE to 25GBASE-T or 40GBASE-T, this cable replaces the limiting Cat6a patch leads that cannot certify at 2 GHz. The half-metre length fits adjacent switch and server ports without slack, so the upgrade is justified whenever the active gear supports 25 Gbps or 40 Gbps over copper. It is not for installers who need longer horizontal runs or fibre uplinks.
