Active signal conversion

This Nippon Labs adapter converts a DisplayPort 1.1a source signal to a DVI-D single-link output. It enables connection between a modern graphics card or laptop and a monitor or projector that only accepts DVI input. The unit draws power from the DisplayPort connection and requires no external supply. It is intended for users adding a legacy display to a current system.

Single-link DVI output

The female DVI-D connector accepts a standard DVI cable up to the supported bandwidth limit. The adapter handles 225 MHz pixel clock and 2.25 Gbps per channel for a total of 6.75 Gbps across three channels. It passes 12-bit per channel deep colour and supports 18, 24 and 36-bit pixel formats. No audio channel is carried because DVI-D does not define one.

Sustained 1080p operation

Under continuous use the converter maintains a stable 1920 x 1200 WUXGA or 1080p image without handshake drops. The DisplayPort 1.1a compliance ensures consistent link training at the rated bandwidth. It is not suitable for resolutions above 1920 x 1200 or for multi-monitor daisy-chaining from a single port. Buyers needing higher resolutions or dual-link DVI should select a different converter.
