Purpose and audience

This 65 W USB-C power adapter supplies Lenovo ThinkPad, Yoga, Chromebook and IdeaPad models that charge through a Type-C port. It replaces original chargers rated at 45 W or 65 W for users who need a single spare or travel unit. Buyers whose laptops require a proprietary rectangular tip or a barrel connector above 65 W cannot use this adapter.

Sustained-load behaviour

The brick delivers a continuous 20 V at 3.25 A for 65 W total output across the 100-240 V input range. Voltage steps of 5 V, 9 V and 15 V at 3 A each allow negotiation with devices that request lower power profiles. Thermal protection maintains stable output during extended charging sessions without throttling.

Interface practical limits

Power flows only through the single USB-C connector; no legacy round-tip cables are supported. The fixed cable length limits desk placement compared with detachable-cord designs. Maximum output stays at 65 W, so laptops that negotiate 90 W or higher will charge more slowly or not at all.

Questions about this item

Does the 65W USB-C adapter run hot or make noise when charging a ThinkPad all day?

The unit has no fan and relies on passive cooling; under continuous load it stays within normal operating temperature for a 65W GaN-class charger.

What cable or connector must I already have to use this charger with my Lenovo laptop?

A USB-C cable that supports USB Power Delivery at 20 V / 3.25 A is required; the adapter itself provides only the Type-C output port.

Will this 65W adapter work with my older 45W ThinkPad models such as the X270 or T480?

Yes — it negotiates 5 V, 9 V, 15 V or 20 V automatically, so it safely charges 45W and 65W ThinkPad models listed in the compatibility list.
