Lower-back protection for football players

This O. Shield back plate is built for adult players who need a single piece of gear that covers the lower back, kidneys and spine. The one-size-fits-all design fastens to most shoulder-pad systems using the included hardware kit. Lightweight plate material and ventilated foam keep the unit from restricting movement during play.

Impact absorption through layered construction

A rigid outer plate spreads the force of rear impacts while the ventilated fiber and foam padding underneath compress to absorb residual energy. The contoured curve follows the natural shape of the back so the padding stays in position during repeated contact. Ventilation channels in the fiber layer allow air to circulate through the pad stack.

One-size-fits-all adult fit

The product is sized as Adult One Size Fits All and relies on adjustable hardware to secure the plate to a variety of shoulder-pad brands. Buyers who need a youth-specific cut or a model with integrated hip and tail coverage beyond the lower-back zone should look for a different configuration.

Questions about this item

How much heat builds up under the ventilated fiber and foam padding during a full game?

The ventilated fiber and foam padding are designed to let air circulate around the lower back, kidneys and spine so heat does not accumulate during extended play.

Which shoulder-pad models accept the attached hardware kit for installation?

The hardware kit anchors securely to most adult shoulder pads; check your pad’s mounting hole pattern before fitting.

Will the contoured curve design sit correctly over youth shoulder pads I already own?

The plate is sized for adult one-size-fits-all shoulder pads; youth pads have a different contour and mounting spacing, so fit cannot be guaranteed.
