Product & Intended User

The O. Shield POWER SKULL Football Back Plate is a youth-sized protective accessory built for football players who need lower-back, kidney and spine coverage against rear impacts. It attaches to most adult shoulder pads using the included hardware kit. This item is not for athletes who require integrated rib or chest protection.

Installation & Common Issues

The plate secures to existing shoulder-pad anchor points with the supplied screws and clips, so no special tools are required. Fit can vary because the youth contour is designed to mate with adult-sized pad shells; some users find the hole pattern does not align perfectly and must drill additional holes or use zip ties for a tight hold.

Deciding Specification

The critical detail is the youth contoured curve matched to an adult one-size-fits-all shoulder-pad platform; if the player’s pads are a true youth shell rather than an adult shell, the mounting points will not line up and the plate will sit loose.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the back plate is protecting my lower back and spine correctly after attaching it to my shoulder pads?

The contoured curve should sit flush against your lower back with the ventilated fiber and foam padding covering the kidney and spine areas; the hardware kit must hold the plate tightly so it does not shift during impact.

What comes in the box and do I need to buy any extra hardware to mount it?

The package includes the lightweight durable back plate with attached ventilated fiber and foam padding plus the hardware kit for installation; no additional mounting parts are required.

The listing says Adult One Size Fits All but the title says Youth Fit — which version should I choose for a youth player?

Choose the Youth Fit version; the Adult One Size Fits All specification appears to be a catalog mismatch, so select the Youth Fit option to match a youth player’s shoulder pads.
