M.2 Key B to Mini PCIe Adapter

The ORVIX adapter board converts an M.2 Key B slot into a full-size or half-size Mini PCIe connector. It accepts 3042 and 3052 length cards that use the USB interface defined for Socket 2 SSIC-based WWAN modules. No external power connection is required for operation.

Suits builders adding cellular modems

This adapter suits builders who want to install a 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G WWAN module into a desktop or laptop Mini PCIe slot. It will not work with M.2 Key M storage drives or Key E wireless cards that rely on PCIe or CNVi signalling.

USB-only M.2 Key B interface

The decisive specification is the USB-only interface on the M.2 Key B side. Only WWAN modules that communicate over USB will function; SSDs or Wi-Fi cards requiring PCIe lanes are electrically incompatible.

Questions about this item

Will this adapter let me keep using my existing Mini PCIe slot for a 3042 or 3052 M.2 Key B WWAN module?

Yes, it converts a full-size or half-size Mini PCIe slot to accept M.2 Key B cards in 3042 or 3052 lengths, supporting USB-interface WWAN modules such as 4G LTE or 5G.

How can I confirm the adapter is working after I install a module?

The host system should detect the WWAN module in Device Manager or network settings and allow a mobile broadband connection without extra drivers for the adapter itself.

Does the package include mounting hardware, and do I need a separate power cable?

A screw kit is included for securing the M.2 card; no additional power cable is required because the adapter draws power from the Mini PCIe slot.
