Server-specific DDR3L ECC kit

This 16 GB kit contains two 8 GB DDR3L 1600 registered DIMMs built for Cisco UCS blade and rack servers including the B200 M3, B22 M3, B420 M3, C22 M3 and C220 M3. The modules operate at 1.35 V with CL11 latency and provide error-correcting code protection required by those platforms. They will not work in standard desktop computers or alongside unbuffered or load-reduced memory.

Sustained workload behaviour

ECC registered architecture corrects single-bit errors on the fly, preventing data corruption during long compute jobs or virtualisation workloads. Registered buffering reduces electrical load on the server memory controller, allowing the installed capacity to remain stable under continuous multi-threaded demand. The DDR3L 1600 speed delivers consistent throughput for memory-bound services without the voltage stress of standard DDR3.

Build and installation notes

Modules use a 240-pin RDIMM form factor without heat spreaders, matching the Cisco UCS memory slot layout exactly. The 2Rx4 organisation fits the qualified channel population rules for the listed B-series and C-series models. Installation is a direct replacement for Cisco part numbers UCSMR1X082RYA, UCSMR2X082RYB and UCSMR2X082RYE, requiring no firmware changes or additional configuration.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 1.35V DDR3L kit draw when the server runs all day?

Each 8GB module operates at 1.35V DDR3L voltage, which is lower than standard DDR3 and reduces overall power draw during continuous operation.

What must the Cisco UCS chassis already have for this 240-pin RDIMM kit to work?

The server must support DDR3L 1600 ECC Registered RDIMMs and have free 240-pin DIMM slots; it cannot accept unbuffered or load-reduced memory alongside these modules.

Will the 2Rx4 registered DIMMs run beside older Cisco UCS memory that uses a different rank or voltage?

These 2Rx4 1.35V registered DIMMs must not be mixed with unbuffered or load-reduced memory; matching rank, voltage and registered type is required for stable operation.
