Fully rugged 10.1" convertible laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is a fully rugged convertible laptop built for field professionals who need a device that survives drops, vibration and water exposure. Its magnesium alloy chassis meets MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certification. The 10.1-inch sunlight-viewable LED touchscreen rotates and folds flat to become a tablet. It ships new with Windows 10 Pro installed.

Single-core 2.70GHz Core i5 processor

The decisive specification is the single-core Intel Core i5 running at 2.70GHz (MK7). This architecture handles one thread at a time, so it suits legacy Windows applications, data logging and basic office tasks. It will not keep up with modern multi-threaded workloads, video encoding or virtualisation. Buyers who need multi-core performance should look elsewhere.

Verizon 4G LTE GPS and digitizer pen

Embedded Verizon 4G LTE mobile broadband and a satellite GPS receiver provide location awareness and connectivity without external dongles. The included digitizer pen enables precise input on the 1024 x 768 XGA touch panel for signatures, sketches or gloved operation. A power adapter is also bundled so the unit is ready to deploy immediately.

Questions about this item

What does the 2.7 GHz Core i5 actually deliver in a real machine?

The single-core 2.7 GHz Core i5 (MK7) runs Windows 10 Pro and everyday business apps on 4 GB of DDR3 800 memory; the 500 GB hard drive stores the OS and local files.

How fast is the 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN and the wired LAN in practice?

The 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connects to compatible networks while the 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port caps wired throughput at one gigabit per second.

What does the IP65 and MIL-STD-810G rating mean for mounting and daily carry?

The magnesium alloy case is sealed against dust and water jets (IP65) and tested to survive a six-foot drop, so it can be mounted in vehicle docks or carried by the built-in hand strap without extra ruggedising.
