Fully rugged convertible laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is a fully rugged convertible laptop built for field professionals who need a device that survives drops, vibration and water exposure. Its magnesium alloy chassis meets MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certification. The 10.1 inch sunlight-viewable LED touchscreen supports digitizer pen input and rotates to become a tablet. Windows 10 Pro runs on a 2.70GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB DDR3 memory and a 256GB SSD.

Sustained field performance

The single-core 2.70GHz Core i5 handles typical field applications such as data logging, mapping and communications without thermal throttling in a fanless rugged chassis. DDR3 800 memory at 2GB per module provides stable bandwidth for the operating system and background tasks during long shifts. The solid-state drive maintains consistent read and write speeds across temperature extremes because it has no moving parts. Verizon 4G LTE keeps the connection alive when Wi-Fi is unavailable.

Interface and connectivity limits

Wired networking is limited to 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet, so gigabit is the maximum throughput on a copper link. Wireless LAN uses 802.11a/b/g/n, which caps practical throughput well below modern ac or ax standards in congested environments. The 32 or 64 bit Windows 10 Pro installation addresses only 4GB of installed memory, preventing RAM upgrades beyond the factory configuration. Verizon 4G LTE bandwidth depends on carrier coverage and spectrum allocation in the deployment area.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the CF-19 produce when the 2.70GHz Core i5 runs all day?

The magnesium alloy chassis acts as a passive heatsink, so the single-core 2.70GHz i5 stays cool without a loud fan even under sustained load.

What must I already own to use the Verizon 4G LTE and GPS on this Toughbook 19?

An active Verizon data plan with a compatible SIM card is required; the WWAN module and satellite GPS are built in and need no extra hardware.

Will my existing DDR3 800 SO-DIMMs work if I want to expand the 4GB (2 GB x 2) memory?

Yes — the two slots accept standard DDR3 800 modules, so any matching SO-DIMMs you already have can be installed directly.
