Rugged laptop for field work

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is a fully rugged laptop built to survive drops, vibration, dust and water jets. It carries MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certifications. The 13.1-inch XGA touchscreen offers 1024 x 768 resolution and supports the included digitizer pen. It ships with Windows 10 Pro installed.

Single-core processor

The Intel Core i5 runs at 2.40GHz with a single core, so heavy multitasking or modern multi-threaded workloads will be slow. System memory is 4GB of DDR3 800 configured as 2 GB x 2. Wireless connectivity uses 802.11a/b/g/n and wired LAN is 10/100/1000Mbps. No optical drive is fitted.

256GB SSD is the only internal storage

The laptop provides a single 256GB solid-state drive with no secondary drive bay mentioned. Buyers who need more internal capacity or a separate data drive should look elsewhere. The included power adapter and digitizer pen complete the core kit for mobile deployment.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256 GB SSD version or look for a larger capacity?

This unit ships with a 256 GB SSD and 4 GB of DDR3 memory; no other storage sizes are offered for this model.

What does the 2.4 GHz Core i5 rating mean for everyday workloads?

The single-core 2.40 GHz processor handles office apps and web browsing, but multi-threaded tasks will be limited by the single core.

Which wireless standard is built in and what speed ceiling does it impose?

The laptop includes 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, so real-world throughput tops out well below modern AC or AX routers.
