Purpose-built rugged laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is a fully rugged 13.1-inch laptop designed for field professionals who need a computer that survives drops, vibration, dust and water jets. It ships new with Windows 10 Pro, a digitizer pen and a power adapter, so it is ready for immediate deployment in mobile or outdoor workflows.

Magnesium-alloy chassis with sealed ports

The chassis meets MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certifications, meaning the housing withstands shock, electromagnetic interference and low-pressure water from any direction. Connectors are protected behind covers; the integrated Verizon 4G LTE modem and 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN provide connectivity without external dongles, while the Gigabit LAN port supports wired networks when available.

Single-core 2.7 GHz processor with DDR3 memory

The Intel Core i5 runs at 2.70 GHz on a single core, paired with 8 GB of DDR3 800 memory in a 4 GB x 2 configuration. This architecture suits legacy 32-bit or 64-bit applications and basic multitasking, but it does not deliver the multi-threaded throughput required for modern heavy workloads or virtualisation.

Questions about this item

What wired network standard does the CF-31 use and what speed does it cap at?

The built-in LAN port is a 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet interface, so wired throughput tops out at 1000 Mbps.

What are the physical dimensions and mounting provisions of the CF-31?

The chassis is a 13.1-inch fully rugged clamshell rated to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65; it uses the standard Toughbook docking connector that has been consistent for 16 years.

How do I install the digitizer pen and what step is often missed?

The pen slides into the dedicated garage on the side of the unit; the step users forget is seating it fully until it clicks so the spring-loaded tether engages and the pen charges inductively.
