Fully rugged 14-inch workstation

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 is a new, fully rugged laptop built to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 standards. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-5300U processor at 2.3 GHz with 8 GB of memory and a 2 TB SSD. The 14.0-inch multi-touch display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution for field professionals who need reliable mobile computing in harsh environments.

Integrated security and input tools

A built-in GPS receiver provides location data without external hardware. The smartcard reader and fingerprint reader enable hardware-based authentication for regulated workflows. An included digitizer pen supports precise input on the touchscreen for signatures, annotations or mapping tasks. These features reduce the need for separate peripherals in mobile deployments.

Sealed chassis with standard connectivity

The ruggedised chassis resists dust, water and shock while retaining four USB ports and a 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN jack for wired networks. Wireless connectivity uses 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1. Memory can be expanded to 16 GB. Buyers who need a lighter ultraportable or a fanless silent design should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

How easy is it to replace the battery when it no longer holds a charge?

The battery is user-removable on the CF-54, so it can be swapped without tools when capacity drops.

Will the Intel Core i5-5300U throttle during long workloads because of heat?

Sustained heavy loads will hit the thermal limits of the 14-inch chassis first, causing the 2.3GHz processor to reduce speed.

How loud does the fan get when the laptop runs all day?

Under continuous use the cooling fan becomes audible but stays within the noise levels expected for a MIL-STD-810G tested design.
